THE FAILURE OF BENDING TIMBER

Most timbers can be broken and cracked when over-force is transmitted. Although this may be considered useless, it will be an opportunity to discover new possibilities and potential from this architectural failure. These bending experiments aim to analyse the maximum limit of bending angle before cracking. Timber performs better when force is applied toward its grain.

Therefore, bending timber can be more resource-efficient, durable, and structurally effective than cutting it. This year, I have attempted to utilise the limit of bending timber to create innovative timber structures.
